Katherine Bumbernick, LPC, ATR, PMH-C earned degrees from Duquesne University (Bachelor’s of Arts with dual majors in Psychology and Studio Art) and Seton Hill University (Master’s of Arts in Art Therapy-Counseling Specialization). She has seventeen years of post-graduate experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and elders; along with experience working in the community, residential treatment, vocational evaluation, and forensics. She is passionate about women’s issues and holds acertification in perinatal and postpartum mental health treatment. Additionally, she believes in integrating the creative process by using art therapy in treatment to facilitate expression and healing. Kate is also interested in assisting the partners and families of those involved in the criminal justice and corrections systems and non-offenders. She has experience working with both the juvenile and adult criminal justice, probation, and correctional systems with specific background in competency restoration.
Kate believes in empowering the client’s fund of wisdom and resilience to direct treatment. She is passionate about working through life transitions with an existential focus and using cognitive-behavioral and solution-focused principles while honoring the impact of family systems. She is LGBTQIA+ allied. Lastly, being of Mexican-descent, Kate is also committed to assisting clients of Hispanic and Latino origin with cultural concerns as it relates to mental wellness and is proficient in Spanish.,
